Interviewer liked Super 8 short film ‘Identity’
February 24, 2007

” They are all interesting films, but out of the collection I particularly liked Giles Perkins film about Manchester, “Heart of Glass”; and also, Gavin Lim’s “Identity,” about Singapore – did you find any films that you warmed to particularly as you viewed them many times?” – James MacGregor (Shooter Films.com of ShootingPeople.org)

Desire, attraction, attachment rejection…
For INVOLUNTARY reasons, I could not go in Clermont… Failing to have gone there, I was delayed on the repeat broadcasts of the American series on television…
It is certain that these two days did not bring the same things to me as to those which went to the festival…
It is certain that I test disappointment not not to have gone there, I would say even frustration!
my article does not have however like objective to speak about my states of hearts, but of a short film which I did not see (in the selection of the courts seen by the pupils of Mathias), that who intrigued me, attracted me, that of my choice, and especially why I chose EC short film in particular. Was my choice made on “Hello?” of Gavin Lim, a Singaporean short film.
“Naomi Wong is cleaning telephones in Singapore in the Seventies, one time when the telephone starts to play a part in the stories of love. But the communication is not always very good.”
If I were to give the reasons for which this short film attracted me (and in this case, I owe it), I would say, to start, whom the title challenged me “Hello?”. I do not like the long titles, and a title which raises a question, also banal is it, challenges inevitably… It seems to to me…
While going further in my research, I also discovered how the principal character summarizes the love: Desire, attraction, attachment and rejection…
To define the principal topic of the majority of films in this way shows at the same time of originality and a disillusion on behalf of this almost provocative woman…
To comment on a sysnopsis is not work more intérressant, although amusing, but progressively where I write, I want more and more to see this film… and I make of it the oath, the next time that I would answer on the telephone, I would have a thought for this film which I never saw…

Il me semble…

Hi Rojakking, just thought i’d pop you a quick message saying we loved your N93 advert. I’m Richard G from the Nseries womworld project( http://www.womworld.com/nseries), we’ve put together a blog post on the vid, so it will hopefully get a few more views and comments now!

‘HELLo?’ is selected to compete in XIV EDICION DEL FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE JÓVENES REALIZADORES DE GRANADA (GRANADA 14-22 APril 2007). We met Loic (one of the programmers) and he actually picked us out from Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival to join his festival. How cool is that? ‘HELLo?’ is slowly but surely moving towards more European territories. I think this makes it the 11th festival for ‘HELLo?’ and it is competing with 50 other entries. http://www.filmfest-granada.com/

Back from Clermont-Ferrand and Slamdance
February 12, 2007

Been a few days back from travelling. Seems years ago already. Filled with work thoughts. It was a great experience- the festivals-keep thinking back of the last 3 weeks. Wrote to many friends I had met and hope some will stay as continuing contacts. Have some sales/distribution leads. Have production companies interested in my feature plans. Have a good review in Clermont. It’s all good short of an award. Been thinking of the going forward for the prequel to ‘HELLo?’. Maybe shoot in April.
